Baby Anderson’s Birth Story
I chickened out and decided not to share our personal Birth Story, but I’d be selfish if I didn’t share this with FUTURE MOMS.
Future Mama, NO amount of birth classes or Youtube videos could’ve prepared me for what I experienced on
02.12.22.
MY (5) TIPS ON THRIVING AS A FIRST TIME MOM: LABOR & DELIVERY
1) Pray! I’m sure we can agree that bringing life into this world is spiritual. When we pray, we are petitioning to God our desires. After all, He is our Father, so although genesis 3:16 says “I will greatly multiply your sorrow and conception; In pain, you shall bring forth children” it was super important for me to at least ask for merrrrcy as I labor and deliver. I specifically asked God for mercy on the amount of pain I would experience and He did just that for me, His daughter.
2) Movement – Nearly 70% of women stop exercising in their last trimester. That’s like an Olympian choosing to stop training before his big run!! Walking and stretching creates room for baby and helps your muscles become more flexible. Everyday, I made sure to walk for at least 15 minutes and stretch for 15 minutes before bed!
Also, don’t’ forget to breath. Unclench your jaw - relax your eyebrows - soften your face.
Now, doesn’t that feel better?
3) Diet – I ate foods that strengthened the muscles that I’d needed the most during L & D.
Dates: 6-7 dates a day will strengthen your vagina.
Raspberry Leaf Tea: Will strength your vagina
Endless amount of water !!!! Stay hydrated. You can never drink too much.
4) Support System – I requested my husband and only my doula to be with me. I made sure they knew my expectations and my concerns. When I wasn’t able to speak for myself, they stood in the gap. They helped me manage my pain and helped me remember how strong I am. I suggest narrowing down the amount of people around you during this time. Extra voices can be distracting and unnecessary to your focus.
5) MENTAL – Since majority of this is mental, you’d want to quiet the distractive and negative noises around you and inside your head. Shoot. It was a point where I literally put the sheets over my head so that I could go inward to focus better. LOL I also repeated these scriptures:
PSALMS 46:5 “If God is with me, I will not fail.”
Philippines 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengths me.”
If you’ve made it this far, here’s a sneak peak into our Birth Story.
Baby Girl’s Due Date: Saturday, February 12, 2022
February 11, 2022
5:00pm 4cm dilated: You could find me browsing through target.
Let’s continue…
6:30pm 5cm dilated: You can find me at Wasabi casually telling the table that I’m expected to give birth any moment now. lol
7:30pm 7cm dilated: You could find me in the car, gripping the door handle in pain from contractions. They were coming fast!
8:00pm You could find me vomiting wasabi on my bathroom floor. I was in ACTIVEEE in labor !
9:00am – Contractions were 60 seconds apart – lasting 20- 30 seconds. I didn’t want to go to the hospital too early, because I didn’t want to be there in the first place. So YEP, ya girl was stalling.
11:00pm – Feeling the need to “bear down.” The hospital was 23mins 43 secs away. Could we make it?
**Hubby starts packing the car**
12 – 2am 8cm dilated: You could find my husband holding a blue vomit bag to my mouth,
my doula taking off my shoes, and my doctors rushing to wrap a baby monitor around my belly.
I was sooo nervous and delusional on how close I was! I continued to labor and move my body until I couldn’t take it anymore. I remember asking the doctors,
“How do I get rid of this painnnnn!?!?” Everyone in the room responded “You have to push the baby out!!! LOL
3:00am 10cm dilated:
It was time to PPUSSHHHHH !!!! I pushed for 57mins and Baby Girl arrived at 3:57am !!
The doctors congratulated me and said “this was impressive” being a first time mom.
So that’s my 8 hour labor and delivery story. It’s all over. Thank you God!!
